Gerrard is a partner in the New York office of Lewis Brisbois and a member of the Medical Malpractice and General Liability Practices. She is an experienced litigator who began her career focused in the areas of medical and dental malpractice and nursing home defense. Carolyn Cacasse, Esq. has been appointed as the Vice President for Long Island.

Carolyn Caccese is a dynamic Partner at SSKB and the head of the medical malpractice department at the firm. Her effective litigation and trial techniques are strongly admired and have resulted in the recovery of substantial outcomes for her clients.

Steve was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1986 and served as a Judge Advocate in the United States Navy from 1986-1989 at the Naval Air Station, Jacksonville, Florida. He then returned to the Hudson Valley and has tried countless jury trials. Steve has obtained numerous multi-million dollar verdicts and settlements for his clients. In 2016, Steve joined Feldman, Kleidman, Collins & Sappe LLP.

For more than 30 years, Steve has advocated for people injured through the fault or negligence of others. His work as a personal injury lawyer includes a variety of cases, from motorcycle accidents and slip and fall accidents to dog bites and construction accident cases.

The appointments of Gerrard, Cacasse, and Cohen mark a significant step in SNY ABOTA’s efforts to bolster its regional representation and advocacy. The organization is confident that these new vice presidents will contribute significantly to its goals and the broader legal community.

Expanding Horizons: NYC ABOTA Chapter Becomes Southern New York State Chapter (SNY ABOTA)

In a significant development, the National ABOTA Board has recently granted approval for the transformation of the New York City ABOTA Chapter into the Southern New York State Chapter. This strategic move marks a pivotal moment in ABOTA’s expansion efforts, particularly in regions previously underserved by the organization.

One notable aspect of this transition is the newfound presence of ABOTA in the Hudson Valley and Long Island areas. Historically, ABOTA’s reach had not extended to these vibrant communities, but with the establishment of the Southern New York State Chapter, practitioners in these regions now have access to the resources and networking opportunities provided by ABOTA.

To facilitate engagement and membership acquisition, individuals practicing law within the designated counties below the demarcated red line on the accompanying map are encouraged to visit our revamped website at SNYABOTA.ORG. Here, they can explore the benefits of ABOTA membership and complete the application process.

This evolution represents more than just a name change; it signifies a commitment to inclusivity and accessibility within the legal profession. By broadening our scope and fostering connections across diverse geographical areas, the Southern New York State Chapter aims to enrich the ABOTA community and empower attorneys throughout the region.

We eagerly anticipate the prospect of welcoming new members and reconnecting with familiar faces as we embark on this exciting journey together. Stay tuned for updates and announcements, and we look forward to seeing you soon!
